Mixed-Alkali Effect and Correlation to Glass Structure in Ionically Conductive P2O5-Al2O3-Na2O-K2O Glass System

In this study, the nature of electrical transport and structural changes resulting from systematic substitution Al2O3 with K2O in 40P2O5-(25−x)Al2O3-35Na2O-xK2O, where x = 5.0, 7.5, 10.0, 12.5, 15.0 mol% (PANxK), is investigated. The impact glass structure its correlation to properties presented. mixed alkali effect (MAE) observed due presence two different oxides, a non-monotonic trend studied properties. infrared spectra show shift diminishing bands related P–O–P/P–O–Al bridges increasing content depolymerization network, which confirmed by Tg values. minimum value DC conductivity obtained for 12.5 mol%. With overall increase content, number non-bridging oxygens increases, also affecting Frequency-dependent analyzed Summerfield, Baranovskii-Cordes Sidebottom scaling procedures revealed interesting features signature MAE short-range dynamics potassium sodium ions, both individual composition series as whole.
